With Fontana celebrating its 100th birthday this year, we are highlighting things/people that make Fontana special.
Last week our summer concert series was number 100 as I began the countdown. This week, coming in at number 99 is something really cool: FREE food!
If you didn't know, Fontana has been offering free food at various school sites to children of our great city, 18 years and younger, while school is out this summer.
The City of Fontana along with the Fontana Unified School District and the Boys and Girls Club of Fontana initiated the "Free Summer Free Food Program for Youth."
Our children are welcome to free meals (and even snacks at some sites) until Aug. 2. (Children who are at the given sites for lunchtime must eat their entire meal there.)
The great thing about this is that our city is feeding our kids and providing nutrients that they may not choose on their own.
Fontana and free food makes for a perfect example of alliteration.
The youth that visit the varying campuses do not even have to attend that school to receive the service.
Whether our kids and/or parents take advantage of this opportunity, just the idea that the option is available speaks volumes about the heart of our city and its people.
